The monument and the archaeological site that have been witnesses and victims of natural disasters stand for precious "index fossils" that retain traces and memory of those environmental disasters which have marked in various ways the historical geography of Pharaonic Egypt.

The purpose of this project is crossing the archaeological evidence with historical and literary sources, trying to look, with a systemic perspective through different - local, regional and macro - scales, at the impact that the events may have generated on the anthropic and environmental system.

Above all we will try to formulate hypotheses, or to explain the strategies and the degree of resilience that local communities or environmental framework have developed to cope with extreme events and reshape economic and social land system.
